People are not broken.
They are blocked.
The Greater Good Foundation connects individuals and families to the help that already exists, then walks beside them until they no longer need us.
Why We Exist
In most cases, the resources already exist. Housing programs, food support, workforce training, education, and community help already operate across the country. What families in poverty are missing is someone who knows the whole system, builds a plan with them, and stays until real change takes hold.
We do not exist to manage poverty. We exist to interrupt it.
The Problem
Why families stay stuck
The system is a maze
A family may need housing help, food support, childcare, and job training all at once. Every program has its own rules, forms, and deadlines. One missed appointment can undo a year of progress.
Progress gets punished
Earning more can mean losing childcare, housing, or medical coverage faster than the new income replaces it. People turn down raises because a promotion could cost their family everything.
Hope wears down
After being let down enough times, people stop believing change is possible. A pamphlet or a hotline does not fix that. A person who stays does.
How It Works
We help people find their way
Every participant is paired with a certified Greater Good Specialist, an expert in the full landscape of benefits and programs, and a trained volunteer Benefits Navigator who walks with the family for as long as it takes. Together they follow four points of one compass.
Step One
Stabilize
Immediate needs come first. The Greater Good Specialist moves fast on food, housing, utilities, and any crisis that threatens the family today.
Step Two
Connect Every Resource
The Specialist identifies every public, private, church, and community resource the family qualifies for, then helps them actually receive it.
Step Three
Build the Pathway
Together, the Specialist and the family's Benefits Navigator build education, training, and employment plans that cross the benefits cliff safely, so advancement never threatens survival.
Step Four
Walk Beside Them
The Benefits Navigator stays close with check-ins and encouragement for months or years, while the Specialist supervises the plan. Setbacks are expected and met quickly.
The Specialist knows the systems. The Navigator knows the family. Together they turn a dead end into a direction.

Nominate Someone
Know someone who is stuck?
Tell us about a person or family who could use a Navigator. We keep it simple and private: share your contact information, their first name, and a few sentences about what is going on. We will always speak with you first before we ever reach out to them.
A real person will reply within five days.
